Sonic the Hedgehog has been "comicized" and they've been making his comics for years.

What do think of these comics? Or what do you think of the characters that are in them? Especially Sally Acorn.

I have not read many comics, but I liked a few of them somewhat. One I would recommend is titled "Lava Story"

It's about Metal Sonic and his Last fight with Sonic the Hedgehog.

The comics can be quite silly, or even babyish unfortunately. I wouldn't really recommend the older ones.
The older ones are also very much stuck in the 1990s. Whether that's a bad thing or not is up to you.
Just how does zapping someone in a glass container "robotize" them anyways?

but Lava Story was much better. Metal Sonic was characterized very well, this comic captured Tail and Sonic's friendship perfectly.
The game tie ins are kind of interesting as they go a more in depth script wise.

I am not sure what to think of Sally Acorn, she's kind of strange. The comics go as far as to give Sonic and her a wedding day!

@.@

But... that was one of the older comics.
She isn't a huge fury, and doesn't really worry me that much.
There are other characters as well, I wish that there were some better ones made for the comics though.

So what do you think?

I've read some of the sonic comics, because my friend has some of them. They are pretty decent but the early ones are pretty cheesy from what I remember. The characters are alright but they are mostly One-Dimensional in the early ones at least. I think the characters are a little more developed in the later comics, but I don't know much about the later comics because I mostly the read the early issues.

I used to enjoy them when I was younger. Reading them now though is a serious joke. The story's are overwritten, and the plot has nothing to do with the games.

G@mehe@d : Though the plots may be overwritten at times, the part of them not being related to the games is what makes me like them even more. With the lack of ties to the games, the comic is free to write different stories from the games.

On a more topic related note, I personally like the comics. Despite how sometimes they are overwritten, I still find them to be enjoyable. I've been reading them since issue 134. Since then, I've read ll the Sonic X issues, all subsequent Sonic The Hedgehog comics, as well as the Sonic Universe comics. The stories are a bit better now, but they are always a bit exaggerated. i also can't speak for the comics over the past 3 months as I haven't had time to read any of the newer comics myself. It's also nice to see new characters in the comics, as well as some characters Sega themselves have stopped using, like Bean, Mighty and Fang.
Subtle references to the games are also fun, like in the "Jailbreak" part of the Sonic Universe series, where the antagonist from Sonic Shuffle was in the jail, as well as Sonic the Werehog.
All in all, i like the comics. They really are just for die hard fans of the games though.

DarkGunslinger :

Yeah, I like how they actually use Bean the Dynamite, Fang, and Bark.

I wish Sega hadn't dropped those characters.

The plots are a little odd, does overwritten mean that things happen in the plot that
are very unlikely to happen?

They had Sonic comics?
I feel like a Sonic newb right now.
I'm sure they are not as good as the video games though.

They're pretty cheesy but entertaining. When I was younger, they were comic gold. So yeah, I think they're decent, but if you're younger, it's comic gold.

I read a few comics of Sonic when I was younger, it was alright. Looking back now, it could have been a bit better, but then again, we have a "new" Sonic, and my view on him has changed a bit.

Sword legion : I have to say, they ruined the franchise by starting comics. And comics aren't even books. Books are good for education to benefit your future, and the kids of this generation. And comics also just suck period.

pacman1755 :

How has your opinion changed of him over the years.

Oh, you mean how in the real world, the US is fighting the Muslim brotherhood,
but in Sonic's world, Shamar and the United Federation are apparently at peace?

Yeah, I totally know what your talking about  am like just putting a bunch of words in your mouth

Uh, Ok.

Could you be more specific?

Sword legion : Well, they made the franchise like a little kid's thing like Little Einstein, or Thomas the Train. The comics just make you feel embarrassed when you play the games. Plus the dialog in the comics are pretty cheesy.

Much better than they used to be. It has much better character development with an actually believable mythos.
Right now, they (Archie) is doing a cross over with Megaman. It's actually good, both the crossover and Mega man alone.
The almost complete detachment from the games is what allows it to be better than what the games provide. While they will reference the games in dialog or small bits, the only thing they take from them is characters. Ray the Flying Squirrel was a blank slate in the games, where as in the comic, he and Mighty had a subplot looking for Mighty's sister. They use death and sacrifice in a believable way.
There is a female robot master who isn't Splash Woman (Tempo - AKA Quake Woman - Quake  Drill).
