Gabby Jay is a punch out character that so far has only appeared in Super Punch out for Super Nintendo. He is often seen as a joke character. Lets learn more about him.

Gabby Jay was born in Paris France. He originally was a waiter in a French Restaurant. Over time Gabby got into boxing. He decided to open up a boxing academy. One of his students was Glass Joe another punch out character.

He decided he would also compete in the boxing circuit. However, he is a horrible boxer. His only win was against his former student Glass Joe. He never won another match and as a result has a record of 1 win and 99 loses. Ironically, his record is the same as his former student Glass Joe, who is also 1-99.

Gabby Jay is one of the oldest boxers in the Punch Out games. Other characters (except for Mac) are in their 20's, 30's and early 40's. His game profile states that Gabby Jay is 56 years old.

In the game he is getting ready to retire, but believes he can win just one more match to finish his career. He wants that second win before he hangs it up for good. He also begs Mac (who the player controls) please let me win I have lost so many times I have forgotten what winning looks like. Basically, he is wanting Mac to throw the match to him.

His offense and defense skills are horrible. His punches are easy to block and counter similar to Glass Joe. For this reason he is often seen as a joke character. His main role is to get the player used to the gaming controls.

His main attack is the taunt punch. He mainly says come on moves to the other ring says come on again before trying to land an uppercut. This is his only major attack that can hurt the player. His other attack is a slow punch hook or jab but this can be easily avoided.

His Weakness is he is not a good puncher and as I stated has horrible defense and offense skills. Aside from his Taunt punch his other punches are easily avoidable. Even if they hit the player they do not do much damage. He has poor stamina as he can easily be taken out. If knocked down he does not have much energy left allowing the player for an easy win. Most likely this is how he has lost a lot of his fights. He is also not fast this allows the player to get quick hits on him.

Personality Wise Gabby Jay acts like a tough guy when he is not. He will constantly say come on before backing off. Other times he says back off he is going to try to hit you. He seems to be desperate as he wants to hang around so he can earn a second win. His second win has not happen yet and more loses pile up. Moreover, he says let him win it is good for his ego. Other times he says let me win I forgot what it feels like. As I mentioned above he is trying to bribe the player into throwing the match. It could be he is also trying to throw the match himself. This would earn him a disqualification which may also be why he has lost so many times.

I know right. It was so funny the sound he made before you knocked him out silly. Me and my cousins would laugh at him when playing Super Punch Out. They do have a punch out for Wii that I think came out in 2009 maybe. But they haven't made any new ones since then.
